What are RSS feeds?
RSS is a format to share information over the internet. RSS feeds contain a regularly updated list of news articles and other similar content
posted on a website. In order to use RSS feeds, you must have an RSS reader like those included with Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 and Mozilla Firefox.
Once you have downloaded a link to an RSS feed (a process called “subscribing to a feed”), your reader will automatically notify you
whenever the feed is updated and will provide you with a link to new articles.
The Advocate Online uses RSS feeds to share articles with website users who have subscribed to our feeds. By subscribing, you will automatically
receive links to Advocate Online stories when they are published without having to check our website for updates.
How do I subscribe to The Advocate Online's RSS feeds?
In order to use an RSS feed, you must have an RSS reader. You can find standalone readers, but modern internet browsers like Mozilla Firefox and
Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 include feed readers. Instructions on subscribing to The Advocate Online's feeds in these two browsers are provided below.
Note: Internet Explorer 6 does not include an RSS reader. To determine your Internet Explorer version, go to “Help”→ “About Internet Explorer”
Internet Explorer 7: Click on the RSS icon next to the feed to which you would like to subscribe. At the top of the page that loads, click the
“Subscribe to this feed” link.
Firefox: Click on the RSS icon in the location bar. From the list that drops down, select the feed to which you would like to subscribe.
In either browser, repeat the process to subscribe to additional Advocate Online feeds.
